You can see the pure joy and excitement on this little girl’s face! Face #8 depicts a moment captured during an outing to the zoo. Nothing is more exciting than seeing your child completely captivated and enthralled by an experience such as this. I love the awestruck, happy expression.

This image depicts the essence of my grandfather as a young man. In reflecting back to what my Papa looked like, I remember that his eyes were were a lovely shade of blue, and I think this image really captures their beauty. I loved working on this portrait, as it displays a quiet, gentle side of my grandfather. There is something about his expression in this portrait that reminds me of my father as well as my two brothers, even though they each have their own distinct looks.

I love this image! As a parent, there is nothing better than seeing your baby’s angelic face the first thing in the morning (especially if your baby is happy and well rested). Face #6 portrays the moment when a child first sees his mom or dad upon awakening.

Have you ever had the experience where someone takes a photograph of you, and even if it is a flattering image, it doesn’t truly resemble you? It’s incredible to think that something like a photograph, which is capturing a real moment at the time, can reveal something that doesn’t seem true. Face #5 is an image of my grandfather as a young man. The drawing is rendered as close to the original photograph as possible, although, the expression on my grandfather’s face seems somewhat uncharacteristic of his personality. It’s interesting though, because in this image, I actually see more of my brother’s expressions than that of my grandfather. In searching through our archive of family photographs, my father has found another image of my grandfather as a young man that is more fitting. I hope this next drawing captures the essence of his being.
