This is the quintessential image of my husband and daughter playing. Every evening, as soon as my husband Damian’s car pulls into the driveway, our daughter Madison sprints across the house so that she can meet him at the back door. Once dad is in the house, the two of them begin chasing each other around, until one is caught and is smothered with a flurry of kisses and hugs. I can’t tell you how much this image warms my heart!

My grandmother had such an enormous impact on my life; partly because she lived down the street from us for several years, but mostly because I’ve found that my personality resonates quite a bit with what I remember of her. Face 14 is an image of my Grammie late in her life – she is probably around 70 years of age and in the image she is at church at a Mass honoring grandparents.
My grandmother, Barbara, had an incredible presence. She loved unconditionally and gave much of herself to family and volunteered in various charities. She had class and poise, but was stubborn as hell and did not lose gracefully (especially when playing board games). She was creative and was would pour herself into projects, such as making Halloween costumes, working into the wee hours of the morning to finish; as she was a world-class procrastinator. These among so many other attributes made my grandmother the woman she was. I’m glad to have know her and loved her.

Face #13 is an image of my grandmother as a young woman. She is probably around 25 years of age in this image, which is approximately the time in her life when she met and married my grandfather. Her name was Barbara Ann, but her friends called her Nancy as a young girl – a fact that always puzzled me. She had an incredible spirit; was extremely fiery and had a huge presence for a woman who stood only 5″ tall. I love this image of my Grammie because it definitely embodies her poise, and for a woman who hated having her picture taken, I think she would have been pleased with this image of herself.
